Now I'm here but soon I'll be gone
We'll then be separated by space
filled by water or land
Now I'm with you
Together we talk and play
Then we'll be far apart
Beyond sight and touch
Pray! Let no distance
This friendship break
Nor waters our feelings wash away
Let memories remain alive in your heart
To remind you of me always
And should we meet again
After months and years have gone their way
nothing would be changed between us
Yet if we never meet again
There would be no cause to grieve or hurt
For then I'll be rest assured
I'll always be on your mind
